FREE NETWORK ADVICE

DSL Modem / Cable Modem
Everybody gets their internet with some sort of device to their office/home...

First Network
(1) Here I assign speed limits but exempt servers and some devices on this network level...
(2) Devices on this network are connected by gigabit backbone, (see proper network cable crimping)...
(3) This network level runs web/ftp/tor/http-proxy/DNS servers...
(4) I like to reduce wifi power levels here to no more than bare minimum (1mw)...
(5) Firewalling port forwarding/blocking is done at this level...

Second limited network
(1) This network has full 802.11n speed to local servers and limited speed to internet...
(2) Wifi clients http connections sent to server "above" network for porn/bank/.mil/.gov website blocking...
(3) Here I also limit ports and IPs clients are never allowed to connect to on "above" network...
(4) I have this network turn on automaticaly 0800hrs and turn off 1800hrs every day...
(5) This nework is where office-workers/library-patrons/kids-at-home/guests could connect to...
(6) I publish freely the wifi password to the encrypted radio channels and I like AP isolation ON...
(7) I like wifi power levels to be high (75mw) so this network could have a large coverage area...

Gigabit Ethernet
Enthernet cables made at home or purchased do not always pair the right twisted pair wires correctly so that crosstalk bleedover interference with it's self signals could cancel each other out, if interested in high performance then you must crimp your cables with this diagram in mind so as to minimize self interference cross talk bleedover in signals otherwise gigabit ethernet will not work, it defaults back to 100 mbit speed until wire crimping fixed...

Anyone can configure/secure their networks/computers, after earning a computer science degree in 1997 I still had years of trial and error hands on learning involving product documentation lookup or internet research to perfect my network/computer security... if it's important to you to have secure networks/computers and you don't have the time to learn then you must hire an expert...
